Informação
The Belgian Second Division consists of 15 teams and operates on a double round-robin system. In each match, the winner receives 3 points, the loser receives 0 points, and a draw earns both teams 1 point each. At the end of the season, teams are ranked based on their accumulated points.
If two or more teams have the same number of points, rankings will be determined in the following order:
a) Number of wins
b) Goal difference
c) Total goals scored
d) Number of away wins
e) Away goal difference
f) Away goals scored
The league champion automatically qualifies for next season’s Belgian First Division. Teams finishing in 2nd through 5th place participate in a promotion playoff; the winners also earn qualification for next season’s Belgian First Division. The bottom two teams in the league are relegated to the lower division.
Note: B-teams of clubs participating in the Second Division are not eligible for promotion; their promotion slots will be passed down to the highest-ranked club that has already obtained the corresponding professional license.
