The Norwegian Eliteserien consists of 16 teams and adopts a double round-robin format (each team plays every other team twice, once at home and once away). Norwegian Eliteserien Point System 1. A win awards 3 points, a draw 1 point, and a loss 0 points. 2. At the end of the season, teams are ranked by total points. 3. If two or more teams finish with the same number of points, rankings are determined by the following criteria: a) Goal difference b) Total goals scored c) Head-to-head results (head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, head-to-head goals scored) d) A play-off at a neutral venue (only applicable when determining the league champion, European qualification, or relegation) European Competition Spots & Relegation Rules 1. The league champion qualifies for the UEFA Champions League play-off round in the following season. 2. The runner-up qualifies for the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round. 3. The third-place team qualifies for the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds. 4. The fourth-place team qualifies for the UEFA Europa Conference League second qualifying round. 5. The Norwegian Cup champion qualifies for the UEFA Europa League play-off round (provided they have not already qualified for the Champions League play-offs or Champions League qualifiers). 6.The bottom two teams are relegated to the First Division, while the third-last team enters a two-leg relegation play-off against the winner of the First Division promotion play-offs (contested by teams finishing 3rd to 6th).
