J2 League Points and Ranking Rules 1. Match Points: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. 2. Standard Ranking: At the end of the season, the team with the highest number of points will be ranked higher. 3. Tie-Breaker Criteria: If two or more teams are tied on points, their rankings will be determined by applying the following criteria in order: a) Goal Difference: Overall goal difference. b) Total Goals Scored: Total number of goals scored throughout the season. c) Head-to-Head Record: Results between the tied teams (ordered by: head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, and head-to-head goals scored). d) Fair Play Points: Based on the league's disciplinary record system. e) Drawing of Lots: Only applicable when determining promotion or relegation spots. Promotion & Relegation Spots (I) Direct Promotion: The top two teams in the league are automatically promoted to the top tier (J1 League) for the following season. (II) Joint Champions & Promotion Playoffs: If two teams tie for first place, both will be declared joint champions. Both teams will earn automatic promotion to J1. The third promotion spot will be decided via the promotion playoffs involving the teams finishing from 3rd to 6th place, with the playoff winner earning promotion to J1 for the following season. (III) J1 License Requirement: If any team finishing in the top six does not possess a J1 League license, they will be ineligible for direct promotion or the promotion playoffs. (IV) Relegation: The bottom three teams in the league standings will be relegated to the third tier (J3 League).
